Artist Manifesto
My artistic practice is informed by the desire to process the systems of oppression I have studied in my academic career. I focus on developing forms of self expression rooted in processing grief, confusion, abandonment, love, and self-acceptance.
Art is a site of healing and a place where my Blackness, my femininity, and my humanity are allowed complexity, nuance, and softness. Self-tying is where I explore tenderness, vulnerability, and it ultimately leads me to a state of radical self-reclamation.
My practice centers unlearning who I was taught I could be, and defining, for myself, the person I can become.
